Today’s MLM training tip focuses on offline prospecting and sponsoring. Even though we specialize in building our business on the Internet, we still train our team on simple ways of effectively prospecting people they know or come in contact with in their hometown.

A common problem for many new network marketers is not knowing how to respond when someone asks them what their business is all about. And that’s too bad because people that ask for information are usually excellent prospects.

The secret is for network marketers to learn to use what I call the “Elevator Speech”. The “Elevator Speech” is the one minute response to the question, What do you do? It works great whether you know the prospect or not.

Members of our team are taught it as part of our first week training, so they never get caught struggling with how to answer questions about what they do. I have found that as soon as team members are comfortable with it, they actually start looking for ways to get people to ask them about their business!

As an example…here’s an “Elevator Speech” that can be used in prospecting for your mlm company:

“Notice how every time you turn on the news or read the newspaper, there’s a story about the economy and people losing their jobs, retired folks having trouble making ends meet, and everyday Americans not enjoying the lifestyle they dream of?

We have a solution to that problem. I’ve helped people all over the country, and what I really like is the Internet system does all the work.

Would you like to find out more?”

It’s that simple. It’s important to re-write the “Elevator Speech” in your own words and memorize it. Practice it until you can recite it in your sleep so you never get caught off guard again.

Now put this mlm training tip to work. Go outside of your comfort zone. Get in the habit of talking to people you run into each day. Get them to ask you, What do you do? You can create a big increase in your offline sponsoring success.
